the neon lights and the dirty streets

The band in heaven plays help on the way
And the angels sing like morning doves

my final race has not been run

I met this guy out on the train
Reading the Tibetan book of the dead
He told me of his past life pain
On the way to his prison bed

He's an outlaw not a criminal
Water-bearer of medicinal
He said 'My girl won't you marry me?'
I said all I want is to be set free

I spent three days in a hospital bed
Greeted death like a lost child
